Ten candidates who appeared in the MDCAT 2026 examination have approached the Sindh High Court, seeking access to the original question paper and official answer keys.
The petition was filed through Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri. The students have asked the court to direct the authorities to publish both documents within three days.
The petition names six respondents, including the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Sukkur IBA University and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.
The students have also requested the court to halt the preparation of the final merit list and medical college admissions until their concerns are addressed.
The MDCAT examination was conducted on September 20. According to the petition, candidates were given carbon copies of their answer sheets after the test. However, they were not allowed to take the original question paper with them.
Some students reportedly requested copies of the examination paper from staff at the test centres. Their requests were refused.
The petitioners argue that access to the original paper is necessary to properly compare their answers with the official answer keys. They also want the opportunity to identify and challenge any potentially incorrect answers.
The students say that even a small difference in marks could affect a candidate’s merit position and admission prospects. This is particularly important in a highly competitive medical admissions process.
The petition therefore seeks publication of the question paper and answer keys before the merit list and admission process move forward.
The students maintain that releasing the documents would improve transparency and allow candidates to independently verify the examination results and raise objections through the appropriate legal process.
The court’s decision on the petition will determine whether the authorities must release the requested examination material before admissions proceed.
