The administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber district has announced preparations for the evacuation of residents from the Maidan area of Tirah Valley ahead of a planned anti-militant operation.
Authorities stated that the relocation process will take place from January 10 to 25, with registration of displaced families underway at Paindi Cheena for three days.
The Maidan area has an estimated population of 130,000, with over 2,500 families already registered for evacuation. Each registered family has received an advance financial aid of Rs250,000 to support their immediate needs.
Financial Assistance and Housing Support
Officials confirmed that relocating families will also receive Rs50,000 per month to arrange temporary housing of their choice.
In case homes are completely destroyed during the operation, families will be compensated Rs3 million, while partially damaged properties will receive Rs1 million.
This financial assistance is intended to ensure the safety and stability of residents during the operation.
Operation Against Militants to Conclude in Two Months
Authorities said the operation is expected to last approximately two months, with the rehabilitation and return process scheduled to begin April 5.
The move comes amid increasing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which shares a porous border with Afghanistan. The province has experienced a significant surge in militant activity over the past year.
