Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has awarded CM Merit Badges to Special Assistant Shoaib Mirza and Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz.
The awards were presented in recognition of their public service and efforts during emergency rescue and relief operations.
Maryam Nawaz praised both officials for remaining present at affected sites and personally supervising operations during critical situations.
Shoaib Mirza Leads Flood Relief in Muridke
Shoaib Mirza was recognised for his role in rescue and relief operations after sudden flooding affected villages in Muridke and Ferozwala.
According to the details, Mirza remained in the affected areas for seven days.
He personally supervised the evacuation of hundreds of flood-affected residents to safer locations.
He also helped arrange accommodation, food, medicines and other essential supplies for people displaced by the flooding.
His continued presence in the affected villages allowed relief activities to be closely monitored and coordinated during the emergency.
Lahore DC Recognised for Harbanspura Rescue
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz received the award for his response to a roof-collapse incident in Harbanspura.
According to the details, Ijaz immediately reached the site after the incident.
He remained at the location for around 16 hours while rescue operations continued.
His efforts contributed to the rescue of five people trapped in the Harbanspura tragedy.
CM Praises Officers for Public Service
Maryam Nawaz congratulated both officials and appreciated their commitment to public service.
She said officers should remain with citizens during emergencies rather than limiting their role to office-based supervision.
“Those who dedicate themselves to serving the people are the real heroes,” the chief minister said.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that physically standing with people during difficult times is an important part of public service.
“When people face difficulties, officers should not sit in their offices but should stand with them,” she said.
The chief minister said she was pleased to have officers such as Shoaib Mirza and Ali Ijaz on her team.
She praised their contributions to public safety, rescue operations and relief efforts and urged them to continue serving citizens with the same dedication.
