Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday met newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani. During the meeting, she congratulated him on his election as the regionโs prime minister. Moreover, both leaders discussed development priorities and future cooperation.
Barrister Iftikhar Gillani thanked Maryam Nawaz and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership for their support. He also expressed his commitment to implementing a 100-day reform agenda in Azad Kashmir. Consequently, he pledged to focus on development and governance improvements across the region.
Gillani Pledges Development-Focused Reforms
During the meeting, the AJK prime minister outlined his plans for public welfare and institutional reforms. He said the 100-day agenda would aim to improve services and accelerate development projects. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of delivering tangible benefits to the people of Azad Kashmir.
Gillani also acknowledged the support provided by the PML-N leadership. He reiterated his determination to strengthen governance and promote economic progress. As a result, he expressed confidence in achieving meaningful reforms during his tenure.
Punjab Projects Praised as Development Model
The AJK prime minister praised Maryam Nawaz for launching major development initiatives in Punjab. He described the projects as historic and said they could serve as a model for Azad Kashmir. In addition, he highlighted the significance of effective planning and public-focused policies.
Gillani stated that he wanted to transform Azad Kashmir into a symbol of progress and prosperity. He added that he would pursue this vision under the guidance of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her support for development efforts that benefit the people of the region.
