Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced food price reductions ahead of Ramadan. The move aims to provide relief to citizens during the holy month.
Authorities in Lahore have issued revised prices for essential food items. Consequently, several pulses and staple commodities will now be available at lower rates.
Revised Prices for Pulses and Staples
According to the new notification, dal mash has been reduced by Rs 50 per kilogram. Meanwhile, dal masoor has seen a cut of Rs 25 per kilogram.
Dal chana special has been reduced by Rs 15 per kilogram. In addition, fine quality dal chana has been lowered by Rs 10 per kilogram.
Prices of black chana, besan, and dal masoor have also been reduced by Rs 10 per kilogram. Furthermore, white chana will now cost Rs 15 less per kilogram.
However, the prices of dal moong, dal mash dhali, and rice will remain unchanged. Bread will be available at Rs 14. Milk will cost Rs 170 per litre. Meat prices will also remain stable.
Strict Implementation in Markets
Authorities have directed price control magistrates to enforce the revised rates strictly. Therefore, inspections will continue in markets across Lahore.
Officials have warned that action will be taken against shopkeepers who charge higher prices. Moreover, traders must display the official rate list prominently at their shops.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that providing maximum relief during Ramadan remains the top priority. In addition, authorities expect cooperation from the business community to control inflation.
Through these Punjab Ramadan food price cuts, the provincial government aims to ease financial pressure on households. As Ramadan approaches, citizens will look to see how effectively these measures are implemented in local markets.
