KARACHI: A legal notice has been issued on behalf of Manzoor Wasan after bribery allegations surfaced in a social media interview. Barrister Mustafa Mahesar sent the notice on his behalf. The notice responds to claims made by former Additional IG Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh.
Allegations rejected as false
The notice strongly rejects all bribery allegations against Manzoor Wasan. It states that the claims are false, baseless, and misleading. It also says the remarks aim to damage his long political career and public image. Wasanโs legal team argues that he served the public for nearly five decades. They say the allegations unfairly attack his reputation.
Moreover, the notice calls the interview a deliberate attempt at character assassination. It says the claims have no legal, factual, or ethical support. The legal team also insists that the content misleads the public and spreads false information.
Apology demand and legal action warning
The notice demands an unconditional public apology from former Additional IG Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh. It gives a deadline of 14 days for compliance. The notice warns that legal action will follow if he fails to apologize.
Furthermore, the legal team says it will file cases under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). It will also pursue defamation charges under relevant laws. The notice adds that the matter will proceed if the allegations remain uncorrected.
Wasanโs lawyers say the interview unfairly targets him. They also say it lacks evidence and credibility. They stress that false statements have already harmed his reputation. As a result, they plan to pursue all legal remedies if needed.
