MANSEHRA: The district administration has reopened the road leading to Saif-ul-Muluk Lake after issuing an official notification, allowing tourists to resume visits to one of Pakistan’s most popular destinations.
According to the notification, visitors can travel on the route daily between 9am and 4pm. Authorities reopened the road after reviewing the latest weather conditions. Earlier, officials had closed the route for one week because of unfavourable weather, aiming to protect tourists and reduce travel risks on the mountainous road.
The administration said public safety remains its top priority. Therefore, officials will continue monitoring weather conditions closely throughout the tourism season. They also urged travellers to follow official instructions and avoid unnecessary risks while visiting the area. In addition, tourists should plan their journeys within the permitted travel hours.
Meanwhile, authorities warned that the road could close again if weather conditions worsen. The Assistant Commissioner of Balakot has received the authority to suspend access whenever public safety faces potential threats. Officials stressed that immediate action will be taken if severe weather creates dangerous travel conditions.
Furthermore, the administration said any future closure decision will rely on weather forecasts and travel advisories issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Authorities advised tourists to check the latest updates before starting their journey. They also encouraged visitors to cooperate with local officials to ensure safe and smooth travel.
