A 35-year-old man suffered critical burn injuries after setting himself on fire following a domestic dispute in Kasur, police said.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Mustafaabad police station.
Consequently, rescue teams and police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the emergency.
According to rescue officials, the man, identified as Shahbaz, poured petrol over himself before setting himself on fire outside his in-laws’ residence.
Officials said Shahbaz’s wife had earlier left for her parents’ home after a domestic disagreement. Later, he visited the house to persuade her to return.
However, when she refused to accompany him, Shahbaz is said to have taken the extreme step. As a result, he sustained severe burn injuries.
Rescue personnel shifted the injured man to Bulleh Shah Hospital in Kasur for emergency medical treatment. After initial care, doctors referred him to a hospital in Lahore because of his critical condition.
Meanwhile, police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. Investigators have begun collecting evidence and recording statements to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing from multiple angles. However, officials have not yet released further details regarding the findings.
