As 2024 comes to a close, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai reflected on the lessons and cherished moments she experienced throughout the year.
On Monday, Malala took to Instagram to share a series of photos and videos, recounting significant memories. She revealed her journey toward achieving a fitness milestone, recounting how she initially struggled to run on a treadmill for even a few minutes. However, in September, she surprised herself by running beyond an hour. “Even after the hour was over, I felt like I could keep going,” she shared, emphasizing her newfound passion for running and perseverance.
The 27-year-old also expressed gratitude for her husband, Asser Malik, describing him as a source of joy and inspiration in her life. “He brings joy wherever he goes and helps me see the world in new ways,” she wrote, appreciating his support during both grand events and quiet moments.
Malala also highlighted the importance of her friends, reminiscing about meaningful long walks, dinners, and late-night conversations that brought her immense joy.
She expressed admiration for Afghan women and girls, describing them as her greatest inspiration this year. “From students and athletes to activists and filmmakers, I witnessed Afghans around the world leading the fight against the Taliban’s oppressive regime of gender apartheid,” she said. Malala urged continued global support for their struggle to achieve education and equality for all Afghans.
Closing her post, she wished her followers a prosperous new year, writing, “May your 2025 be full of love, friendship, and good health. May peace and justice find a home in every corner of our world.”
