Security forces and police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have intensified counterterrorism operations across Bannu district following the deadly Fateh Khel police checkpoint attack that claimed the lives of several officers earlier this month. Authorities confirmed that five terrorists were killed during multiple intelligence-based operations conducted in different parts of the district.

The latest action follows the deadly vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack on the Fateh Khel police check post last week. The explosion killed 15 police officers and injured several others, including a civilian.
