ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Army officer was among three soldiers martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a military vehicle in Balochistan’s Mastung district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The fallen officer was identified as Major Rizwan Tahir, who had taken part in numerous counter-terrorism operations. Two other soldiers—Naik Ibni Amin, 37, of Swabi, and Lance Naik Muhammad Younas, 33, of Karak—also embraced martyrdom in the attack.
Following the incident, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the region, successfully eliminating four terrorists linked to Indian-sponsored militant networks, according to the ISPR. The sanitisation operation is still ongoing due to the potential presence of more threats in the area.
The military’s media wing emphasised that the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only bolster the nation’s determination to root out terrorism.
Balochistan CM Condemns Attack, Blames Indian-Backed Elements
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly denounced the terrorist attack, blaming Indian-supported actors for destabilising peace in the region.
“This cowardly act is an attack on Pakistan’s peace and stability, but the enemy’s designs will never succeed,” he stated. CM Bugti assured that every act of terrorism would be met with a decisive response, and those responsible would be brought to justice.
He paid heartfelt tribute to Major Rizwan Tahir and his comrades, saying their sacrifice for the motherland commands the highest respect. He reaffirmed that the nation stands with its martyrs and their families, who will never be forgotten.
