Mahrang Baloch
RAWALPINDI: During a press conference held in Rawalpindi, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made strong allegations against activist Mahrang Baloch, describing her as a proxy for terrorist organizations.
He urged Pakistani media outlets to expose both her and the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), which he accused of advancing a hostile agenda under the guise of human rights activism.
Speaking alongside Balochistan’s Interior Secretary Aftab Durrani, Lieutenant General Chaudhry highlighted that after the deadly Jaffar Express attack in March—claimed by a separatist group—Mahrang Baloch demanded the return of the bodies of those the military identified as terrorists.
He said this action alone exposed the true sympathies of the BYC, which he asserted lacks genuine public support within Balochistan. “Their rallies barely draw two dozen people,” he noted, claiming that the Baloch population has distanced itself from their narrative.
The DG ISPR reiterated that the unrest in Balochistan should not be mistaken for a legitimate struggle for rights, but rather seen for what it is: a proxy war orchestrated by India. “India’s desire for regional hegemony is the root cause of the violence being inflicted on innocent Pakistani civilians,” he said. “The Baloch are our brothers, and we will never allow foreign proxies to drive a wedge between us.”
According to the DG ISPR, Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations, neutralizing over 200 militants in Balochistan in 2025 alone. He emphasized that the state’s resolve is unwavering and backed by both capacity and public will.
Echoing these concerns, Interior Secretary Aftab Durrani revealed new details of the investigation into the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, which killed six children and injured over 30 others.
He said the incident is part of a broader Indian-sponsored campaign of violence in the province. “The group Fitna al-Hindustan, operating under the guidance of India’s intelligence agency RAW, has been orchestrating these attacks to destabilize Pakistan,” he stated.
Durrani added that after the failure of India’s so-called “Operation Sindoor,” their proxies have been instructed to escalate violence across Balochistan to derail development initiatives and recreate conditions similar to those in East Pakistan in 1971.
He affirmed that Pakistan will not permit a repeat of history. “The people of Balochistan have rejected these nefarious designs. The state of Pakistan stands ready to dismantle these terrorist networks, and we will ensure that their masterminds and facilitators are held accountable.”
