US rapper Macklemore has announced a new concert series called the “Free Palestine Tour,” saying proceeds from the shows will go to organisations supporting Palestinians.
The Grammy-winning artist announced on Thursday that the tour will begin in Dublin on October 26 before travelling to Paris on October 29 and London on October 30. He said additional performers and dates in the United States would be announced later.
Macklemore said the controversy surrounding his recent performances had become “bigger than one artist or one stage,” while criticising the influence of wealthy interests over which voices receive public platforms.
Tour Follows Macklemore’s Removal From Ed Sheeran Shows
The announcement follows Macklemore’s removal from British singer Ed Sheeran’s US tour after the rapper performed his pro-Palestinian song “Hind’s Hall” and called for a “Free Palestine” during New Jersey concerts earlier this month.
Sheeran later said the US tour promoter made the decision after venues objected to Macklemore’s participation. He added that he had spoken with venues in an effort to find a solution.
Meanwhile, some artists reportedly withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore, while Sheeran faced boycott calls.
Sheeran Addresses Gaza Controversy
At a Philadelphia concert on September 19, Sheeran described the situation in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable,” while saying he wanted his concerts to remain spaces centred on unity rather than politics.
Macklemore, meanwhile, has repeatedly expressed support for Palestinians through his music and public appearances.
In 2024, he released “Hind’s Hall,” named after Palestinian child Hind Rajab, who was killed in Gaza. The rapper pledged proceeds from the track to humanitarian organisations supporting Palestinians.
His newly announced tour continues that advocacy, combining performances with fundraising for Palestinian causes as he prepares to reveal additional participating artists and US concert dates.
