KARACHI: Three suspected robbers were killed and a police constable was injured during an alleged encounter in Karachi’s Machhar Colony.
The exchange of fire took place near Akhlaq Chowk in the Maripur area, according to police and rescue officials. Personnel from the Docks police reportedly engaged the suspects during the encounter.
Two alleged robbers died at the scene. Meanwhile, a third suspect suffered critical injuries and later died while being taken to hospital.
Police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Police Recover Weapons and Motorcycle
According to police, investigators recovered weapons, ammunition and a motorcycle from the suspects.
The Crime Scene Unit also collected evidence from the location after the shooting.
Officials later moved the bodies with assistance from local volunteers.
Investigators are examining the recovered weapons and other items as part of the inquiry.
Authorities have also started investigating the circumstances that led to the alleged encounter.
Suspects Identified After Police Inquiry
Police initially used a Talash App device to establish the identities of the deceased suspects.
Later, the SHO Docks identified the three men as Rehman, Omar Daraz and Sajid.
Authorities are continuing to verify the identities and investigate their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The recovered weapons and ammunition will also form part of the investigation.
Police Constable Injured During Encounter
Police Constable Kaleemullah sustained minor injuries during the alleged exchange of fire. The SHO Docks confirmed the constable’s injuries following the incident.
Rescue teams and police personnel responded to the scene after the shooting. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to examine the evidence collected from the area.
Authorities are also expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the encounter and establish further details about the suspects.
The investigation into the incident and the recovered weapons remains underway.
