Lower Dir Deputy Commissioner Maqbool Hussain and two others were seriously injured after their vehicle met with an accident inside the Lowri Tunnel on Friday.
According to reports, slippery road conditions caused the vehicle to crash inside the tunnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police and rescue teams quickly reached the scene and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital in Dir Bala.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Khalid later said Maqbool Hussain’s condition was out of danger. The other two injured people also received medical treatment after the accident.
Police And Rescue Teams Reach Accident Site
Authorities launched an immediate response after receiving information about the crash. Rescue personnel and police officials reached the Lowri Tunnel and transported the injured to the nearby hospital.
The accident occurred as slippery conditions reportedly made driving difficult inside the tunnel. Officials have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident highlights the risks motorists face on mountainous roads during difficult weather conditions. Authorities regularly advise drivers to exercise caution when travelling through tunnels and hilly areas.
Earlier Lower Dir Accident Killed Three
Lower Dir witnessed another deadly road accident in April 2026. At least three people, including a child, died while 10 others sustained injuries after a passenger vehicle plunged into a ravine.
According to Rescue 1122, the vehicle was travelling from Maidan toward Nambatai when another vehicle struck it. The impact caused the passenger vehicle to leave the road and fall into the deep ravine.
The deceased included a child, a woman and a man. Meanwhile, the injured included both men and women who were shifted for medical treatment.
