LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued an arrest warrant for the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad police in a contempt case. As per details, the arrest warrants of IG Islamabad were issued in a contempt case related to the arrest of former chief minister and PTI president Pervaiz Elahi.
The court issued the written verdict of his arrest warrant for not appearing before the court and ordered him to present on September 18 in LHC.

Previously, the Lahore High Court had sought responses from the Punjab police and the Superintendent of Jail regarding the re-arrest of Pervaiz Elahi.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) recently suspended Pervaiz Elahi’s detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, which led to his immediate release. Shortly after his release, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) re-arrested him in connection with the judicial complex attack case. They registered this case against Pervaiz Elahi on September 3, and the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) scheduled him to appear for further proceedings.
Parvez Elahi Arrested Once Again After IHCโs Release Orders
Earlier, PTI President Parvez Elahi was rearrested, marking the 10th time he has been taken into custody. This arrest came shortly after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended his detention under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and ordered his release.
According to Islamabad police, they arrested Parvez Elahi in connection with a case registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station.
The PTI shared footage of Elahiโs arrest and criticized the authorities for his latest detention. They decried what they saw as a lack of respect for court orders. PTI framed Elahiโs arrest as a result of his unwavering commitment to Pakistan and his refusal to leave the PTI despite significant pressure.
In response to the arrest, Elahiโs lawyer, Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan, expressed strong disapproval. He stated that the situation has gone beyond acceptable limits and amounted to injustice against the country and its institutions. He characterized it as a mockery of the law and the Constitution.
The lawyer further explained that after he and Elahi had entered their car outside the jail, some individuals blocked their path. They forcibly opened the car door, and removed him, his driver, and an associate from the vehicle. Meanwhile, Elahi was, in his words, โabductedโ and taken away.
