LG is preparing to make a major splash at CES 2026 with the unveiling of what it claims will be the world’s lightest 17-inch laptop powered by an Nvidia RTX GPU. The upcoming device is part of LG’s refreshed Gram Pro lineup for 2026 and is aimed at users seeking high performance in an ultra-portable design.
The new laptops, named LG Gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) and LG Gram Pro 16 (16Z90U), will be officially showcased at the annual technology event next week. LG says the series reflects its continued focus on combining lightweight engineering with premium performance features.
Gram Pro 17: Lightweight Design With RTX Power
The headline product in LG’s announcement is the Gram Pro 17, which the company says will redefine expectations for large-screen laptops. To achieve its ultra-lightweight design, LG is introducing a new material called “Aerominum.” According to the company, this material significantly reduces overall weight while improving durability, strength, and scratch resistance.
The Gram Pro 17 will feature a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution display, offering sharp visuals suited for productivity and creative work. Powering the laptop is Nvidia’s RTX 5050 laptop GPU, paired with 8GB of VRAM. LG says this configuration will provide strong performance for tasks such as content creation, photo and video editing, and light gaming.
However, LG has acknowledged that the device is not intended to be a full-scale gaming laptop. While it can handle graphics-intensive workloads, users may not be able to run the latest games at maximum settings. The focus remains on portability and balanced performance rather than raw gaming power.
LG has not yet revealed the exact weight of the Gram Pro 17. The company also confirmed that the model will initially be exclusive to the US market at launch.
Gram Pro 16: OLED Display and AI Features
Alongside the 17-inch model, LG will also introduce the Gram Pro 16, which it describes as the lightest 16-inch laptop in its category. This model will feature a 2,880 x 1,800 OLED display, offering deeper contrast, vibrant colours, and improved visual clarity.
The Gram Pro 16 will be powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, bringing improved efficiency and performance. LG also highlighted that the laptop will support both on-device AI and cloud-based AI features, reflecting the company’s push toward smarter computing experiences in 2026.
Like its larger sibling, the Gram Pro 16 focuses on portability, premium materials, and modern features aimed at professionals, students, and creators.
Pricing and Availability Still Under Wraps
LG has chosen to keep key details under wraps ahead of CES 2026. Pricing, exact weight specifications, and release dates for the 2026 Gram Pro series have not yet been announced. The company is expected to reveal more information during its official CES presentations.
With its bold claim of delivering the world’s lightest 17-inch RTX laptop, LG is positioning the Gram Pro lineup as a strong contender in the premium ultralight laptop market. All eyes will be on CES 2026 to see whether the devices live up to that promise.
