Woman raped
ISLAMABAD: An employee of Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi raped a woman inside the X-Ray room. A police official said that an alleged rape occurred in the x-ray room of the state-run Hospital in Rawalpindi. Rape victim is a mother of two and divorced as well.
On Monday, the police registered a case under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police registered the FIR after confirming rape through the woman’s medical examination.
Inspector Javaid Iqbal, the Station House Officer of the Waris Khan told media that police arrested a hospital employee in this rape case.
He said an investigation had commenced from all angles and that they would soon apprehend the main culprit.
The complainant (name being kept secret) stated that the main suspect called her to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Murree Road. He took her to the x-ray room where his friend, a hospital employee, was present. The main suspect then used indecent videos to blackmail her and raped her inside the X-ray room.
She further told police that she is a divorced mother of two. The accused had promised to marry her. She further stated that she had been in a relationship with the accused for three years.

Meanwhile, on the 77th Independence Day of Pakistan in Washington, Arooj Aftab, a Grammy award winner, received the “President’s Pride of Performance” award. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, bestowed the award upon Arooj. She is the first Pakistani woman to secure a Grammy award.
Aftab, an internationally acclaimed Pakistani-American vocalist, music composer, and producer is now based in the United States. She specializes in fusion jazz and neo-sufi music. Her Grammy win occurred in 2022.
During the ceremony, the citation announced, “In recognition of her exceptional contribution to promoting Pakistani musical traditions in the United States and around the world, the President of Pakistan has granted Arooj Aftab the President’s Pride of Performance award.”
Ambassador Masood applauded her particularly in bridging the gap between the two nations through the medium of music. He stated that diplomacy and international relations are heavily influenced by perceptions.
Arooj Aftab has played a role in reshaping Pakistan’s image through her musical prowess. He emphasized, “Pakistanis love music. There are no restrictions on music.”
Arooj expressed that this moment was ideal for recognizing the integral role of literature, poetry, and music. She noted that Pakistanis are inherently romantic people.
