In a case involving assets beyond means, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued an order on Friday directing the authorities to permanently remove Sharjeel Inam Memon, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), from the Exit Control List (ECL).
The case was heard by a two-person SHC bench under the leadership of Justice KK Agha.
His name has appeared on the no-fly list twice, most recently in this instance.
Earlier In a case involving abuse of power, the SHC permanently removed Memon’s name from the ECL on October 4.
He is accused of abusing his power while serving as the local government minister and using illegal funds to buy land in the Karachi cantonment.
Sharjeel Memon’s attorney, Ali Wahid, insisted during a hearing earlier this month that the court had added Sharjeel’s name to the ECL when he requested bail. He has had to request permission ever since he wants to leave the nation.
The attorney asked that Sharjeel Memon’s name be taken off the ECL because he has been showing up in court for each session.
On the other side, the NAB and the government agree with the decision to strike Memon’s name from the list.
Following that, the court ordered that Sharjeel’s name be removed from the no-fly list.
