Westerly winds have brought a noticeable relief to Lahore as temperatures have significantly dropped with the onset of the monsoon winds since Thursday.
According to the Meteorological Department, this marks the commencement of the monsoon season in Pakistan, with anticipated rainfall starting from July 3.
Chief Meteorologist Shahid Abbas emphasized that the upcoming monsoon rains will not only alleviate the intense heat but also lower temperatures across the region. Currently, Pakistan is experiencing a blend of cloudy and sunny weather throughout the day, a trend expected to persist in the coming days.
In Lahore, the impact of the westerly winds has been evident with a tangible decrease in the severity of the heat. The city’s climate is gradually transitioning, and temperatures are moderating as a result. The Meteorological Department has forecasted a likelihood of rain as the monsoon weather pattern establishes itself.
Despite the drop in temperatures, Lahore continues to contend with electricity supply issues. Areas such as Amir Town, Nai Abadi, Dharampura, and Mustafaabad, adjacent to the Main Canal Road, are still experiencing load shedding.
Recently, a damaged transformer caused power outages overnight, compounding the inconvenience for residents.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Office predicted partly cloudy weather in Karachi, with expectations of moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday. They highlighted the likelihood of sea breezes resuming in the evening, attributing the 74% humidity in the air as a contributing factor.
