Severe Cold Wave Sweeps the Country, School Hours Adjusted

The country is currently experiencing an intense cold wave, with snowfall in mountainous areas and rain further intensifying the chill. As temperatures continue to plummet, educational institutions have begun adjusting their schedules to accommodate the extreme weather.

Yesterday, Leh recorded the lowest temperature of minus twelve degrees Celsius, while residents in Karachi faced biting cold due to icy winds. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the cold wave will persist across the country today.

Lahore, one of the most polluted cities, recorded an early morning Air Quality Index (AQI) of 223, indicating hazardous air quality.

The cold wave has also heavily impacted Azad Kashmir, where temperatures have dropped significantly. In response, the Azad Kashmir government has revised school hours. Starting today, all public and private schools will open at 9 AM and close at 2:30 PM. On Fridays, schools will operate from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.

Furthermore, the dry cold in the region has led to an uptick in health issues among residents.
