The PDMA reports that Punjab has seen more deaths than KP due to the monsoon rains

Heavy rains have caused widespread devastation across the country. According to the NDMA report, from July 1 to August 17, 189 people have died as a result of the severe weather. Additionally, 333 individuals have been injured, including 137 children and 85 women.

The rains have inflicted significant property damage, with 645 houses completely destroyed and 1,419 partially damaged. Infrastructure has also been affected, with 8 schools and 35 bridges damaged, and 323 animals lost to flooding.

In Karachi, light rain is affecting various areas, including Sadar, Numaish, Guru Mandir, and MA Jinnah Road. The Met Department had forecasted this light rain, with expectations for heavier rainfall starting tomorrow.

Multan
Three electrocution incidents occurred following the rain on Muzaffargarh Road, Gulgasht, and Wahari Road. The victims’ bodies have been moved to Nishtar Hospital.

Rojhan
Intermittent rain over the past three days has caused the Indus River level to rise. Slum areas such as Badi Khuda Bakhsh and Seija have been heavily impacted, with roofs and walls of several houses collapsing and injuring three people. Residents from these slums have been relocated to safer areas.

Liaquatpura
Intermittent rain continues in Liaquatpura and its surroundings. Several electrical feeders have tripped, leading to power outages in rural areas.

Muzaffargarh
A 30-foot wide crack has appeared in the Rangpur Canal at Basti Kumharan, causing canal water to flood dozens of houses and displace residents. The crack, which developed late at night, remains unaddressed. Additionally, a 10-foot wide crack has emerged in the safety dam at Londi Sedan, posing further risk to the main Khushab road and the grade station.

Rajanpur
Floodwaters from recent rains on Mount Sulaiman are moving towards populated areas. Flood volumes of 91,566 cusecs were recorded at Dara Kah Sultan, and several other areas, including Lalgarh, Londi Sidan, and Jhok Mukul, are under threat. Rescue teams have begun relocating affected residents to safer locations.

Lodhran
In Haqran, a house collapsed due to the rain, resulting in the death of a 72-year-old passerby.

Bahawalpur
A 20-foot wide crack has appeared near Head Rajkan, flooding hundreds of acres of agricultural land and potentially damaging cotton crops.

Sadiqabad
After 35 hours of intermittent rain, a house roof collapsed in Gul Town. Four people were trapped under the debris, with a 4-year-old girl dying and three others, including a husband and wife, rescued and taken to the hospital.

Rahim Yar Khan
In Taba Patan Minara, the roof of a house collapsed due to rain, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old man named Zahoor and injuring a 35-year-old woman, who has been hospitalized.
