PDMA Warns of Rain and Thunderstorms Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Thursday

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a weather alert, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds across various parts of the province. The forecast is effective from Thursday and will last until Tuesday, impacting several regions throughout this period.

In response to the alert, the PDMA has directed all Deputy Commissioners across the province to implement precautionary measures to safeguard the public and minimize any risks to both human life and property. The authority has urged officials to stay vigilant and prepared for potential emergencies, as the inclement weather may cause disruptions, particularly in areas prone to heavy rainfall and strong winds. Residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions, including securing loose objects and avoiding unnecessary travel during periods of high winds or storms.

Additionally, the PDMA’s Control Room is fully functional and will remain operational 24/7 during the forecasted period. In case of an emergency, citizens can contact the PDMA by dialing 1700 for immediate assistance. The department has reassured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with district administrations to ensure timely response and aid where needed.

According to the meteorological office, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience primarily dry weather during the forecast period, with particularly hot conditions in the plain regions. However, a few areas, including Abbotabad, Mansehra, Dir, and Swat, are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the evening or at night on Wednesday. The weather is anticipated to remain largely stable during the daytime, but sporadic rain may occur in the mentioned areas as part of this weather pattern.

The PDMA has urged the public to stay informed about the latest weather updates and follow the advice of local authorities to remain safe during the forecasted adverse weather conditions.
