Karachi is preparing for a mud storm today, followed by light drizzle, as reported by the Meteorological Department. This sudden shift in weather conditions is expected to bring gusty winds that will significantly reduce visibility, creating challenging road conditions. While the anticipated drizzle may temporarily relieve the oppressive heat, residents are advised to take precautions and limit outdoor activities during the storm.
In most parts of the country, mainly dry weather is forecasted; however, cooler temperatures are expected in the hilly regions at night due to the influence of prevailing continental air. Recent rainfall data indicates that Karachi experienced significant precipitation over the past 24 hours, with 31 mm recorded at University Road, 6 mm at Jinnah Terminal, and 1 mm at the Meteorological Office Station. In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad Airport recorded 1 mm of rainfall.
On Thursday, the highest temperatures were recorded at Chhor (41°C), Lasbella, Karachi, and Turbat (40°C).
Karachi recently faced a sudden dust storm that drastically reduced visibility and disrupted daily life across the city. Strong winds swept through, leaving streets deserted. Once the dust storm passed, dark clouds rolled in, resulting in rain across several areas, including Miller, University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gadap, with hail reported in Scheme 33, marking an unusual weather phenomenon for the region.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz warned that, despite today’s weather developments, the ongoing heatwave in Karachi is expected to persist for the next four to five days. Residents should remain vigilant and prepared for the changing conditions.
