Karachi is under high alert for a potential heatwave beginning tomorrow, with temperatures expected to rise, further intensifying the already sweltering conditions experienced on Tuesday.
According to forecasts from the Meteorological Department, the city may experience a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius today.
However, from May 29th to 31st, Karachi is expected to face significantly higher heat levels, with temperatures ranging between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius. Residents are advised by the Met Department to take necessary precautions to manage the extreme heat.
Today’s weather conditions include a maximum temperature range of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. Fortunately, sea breezes have returned to the city, offering some relief. The air’s humidity level is at 66%, with southwest winds blowing at a speed of 35 kilometres per hour.
The impending heatwave presents a significant health hazard, especially for susceptible groups like the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health issues.
Authorities have stressed the importance of staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and seeking medical assistance if symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke arise.
On another note, the Meteorological Department has suggested a potential decrease in the severity of the heatwave in Lahore, with rain forecasted in Punjab and upper regions of the country due to western winds. Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees today.
