ABU DHABI: United Arab Emirates Princess Sheikha Mahra, daughter of UAE Vice President and Deputy PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Zoe Grigorakos, has announced her divorce from her husband on Instagram.
“Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” she stated in a social media post on Tuesday. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”
Princess Sheikha Mahra has also removed all pictures shared with her husband from her social media accounts, and both have unfollowed each other on these platforms.
The sudden divorce announcement has left fans and social media users in shock, especially since just a few weeks ago, she posted about spending precious moments with her daughter.
Some users speculate that the Emirati princess’s Instagram account might have been hacked, while others argue that the right to divorce traditionally rests with the husband, and the wife can only seek “khula” (divorce initiated by the wife).
Princess Sheikha Mahra married Sheikh Mana Al Maktoum on April 5, 2023. They welcomed their first daughter in May of this year.
The announcement comes just over two months after the couple welcomed their first child.
The news has sparked a frenzy on social media, with many noticing that the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted all photos of each other from their profiles. Some speculated the pair had blocked each other, while others wondered if Ms Sheikha Mahra’s account had been hacked.
