Two Terrorists, Including Mastermind of 2021 Dasu Attack Eliminated

Two terrorists, including the alleged mastermind behind the 2021 Dasu hydropower project attack, were killed during a clash with law enforcement on Thursday. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported that the incident occurred near Sahiwal’s Samundri Road while five terrorists were being transferred from Sahiwal Jail due to a security threat alert.

During the transfer, accomplices of the terrorists launched an assault to attempt a rescue. The CTD quickly responded, resulting in a gunfight that led to the deaths of two identified key figures in the Dasu attack: Muhammad Hussain and Ayaz. Fortunately, the other three terrorists remained unharmed as they were being transported in separate jail vans.

The court had previously sentenced these terrorists to death for their roles in the Dasu attack, which occurred in July 2021 and resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals, including nine Chinese nationals, with more than 20 others injured. The CTD emphasized that robust security measures were implemented during the prisoner transfer, and the timely action of law enforcement thwarted the attempted escape of the masterminds.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat terrorism and ensure justice for the victims of such heinous attacks. The CTD continues to monitor and address threats to national security, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining public safety.
