On Sunday, deadly clashes between two groups in Karachi’s Golimar area resulted in at least two deaths and nine injuries, according to police reports. The violence erupted when armed groups opened fire on each other. During the chaos, protesters set multiple vehicles on fire, disrupting traffic and closing both lanes of a key road from Lasbella to Nazimabad.
Police Surgeon Dr. Samia confirmed the casualties, noting that one victim was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the other to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital. The injured are receiving treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
In response, Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar demanded a detailed report from the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Additional Inspector General (AIG). He instructed law enforcement to control the situation immediately and vowed that those responsible for the violence would be arrested, emphasizing that no one would be permitted to disrupt the law and order.
Karachi AIG Javed Alam Odho later stated that the situation was under police control, with the Central Superintendent of Police (SSP) present at the scene. He assured that legal action would be taken against the perpetrators. West DIG Irfan Baloch indicated that the conflict was triggered by disputes over the procession’s route.
