Two additional fatalities in the Jhimpir mine

Rainwater flooded a 300-foot-deep mine near the Matang Railway Station in Jhimpir, Thatta two days ago, and at least nine miners have been reported missing since then.

The rescue mission has been underway for around 40 hours now and will continue till the final miner’s body is brought out.

Before rescue workers could enter the mine shaft, the area had to be drained using heavy gear.

As the rescue mission was repeatedly called off due to rain, workers erupted in rage and started protesting. They blocked the main train line between Sindh and Punjab.
