Local Leader
SWABI: In a distressing turn of events, Shah Khalid, a prominent local leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), met a tragic end as he was shot dead by unidentified assailants in broad daylight in Swabi district. This heinous incident unfolded today, with two armed motorcyclists ambushing Khalid’s vehicle and opening fire, resulting in his immediate demise. The lifeless body of the PTI leader was swiftly transported to a local hospital for thorough medical examination.
The perpetrators of this brazen attack managed to evade capture, escaping the crime scene before authorities could apprehend them. Responding promptly, law enforcement arrived at the location, cordoning off the area to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the shocking assassination.
The incident follows a disconcerting pattern of political violence in Pakistan, as just a day earlier, Aslam Buledi, a former senator and candidate for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the upcoming general elections, fell victim to a gun attack in Turbat city, Balochistan.
Unidentified assailants targeted Buledi at Turbat’s Mir Issa National Park, leaving him critically injured with four gunshot wounds. The PML-N candidate was subsequently rushed to Karachi for urgent medical treatment, with the police securing the crime scene and launching a thorough investigation.
As both cases unfold, the motives behind these attacks remain unclear, and no group or individual has claimed responsibility thus far. The incidents underscore the concerning rise in political violence in the region, prompting heightened security measures and a call for swift justice to ensure the safety of political figures and the overall stability of the electoral process.
