This significant event highlights Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) and startup ecosystem to a global audience. Running concurrently with Gitex Global is the North Star Startup Show, where ten startups and incubators from Pakistan are showcasing their innovations.
These startups are attracting considerable interest from the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, and beyond, with a total of 80 Pakistani companies participating in this major tech event. Participants are optimistic that their strong presence at Gitex Global will boost IT exports from Pakistan to the Middle East and MENA region, while also attracting investment and fostering partnerships with major IT firms.
Under the federal Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, ten Pakistani startups are part of the Ignite program at Gitex 2024, operating in sectors such as healthcare, aerospace, energy, gaming, travel technology, and smart cities. They are set to present their innovative solutions to global investors, potential partners, and technology enthusiasts.
Adil Ejaz Shah, CEO of Ignite, described participation at Gitex Global as a tremendous opportunity for Pakistan’s IT industry and startups. He emphasized that the innovative spirit of Pakistani startups would attract global investment and accelerate growth through new partnerships.
Earlier this month, Pakistan was recognized as the ‘Tech Destination of the Year’ at GITEX Global 2024, held from October 14 to 18. This honor reflects Pakistan’s growing prominence in the global technology landscape.
GITEX Global, one of the world’s largest technology exhibitions, took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour, featuring over 40 halls showcasing advancements in AI, cybersecurity, mobility, and sustainable technology. The event brought together tech giants, startups, investors, and industry leaders to unveil innovations and explore future trends.
With IT and IT-enabled services exporting to 170 countries, Pakistan is positioning itself as an emerging hub for technology and innovation, with services offered at operational costs up to 70% lower than those in North America. This recognition as the ‘Tech Destination of the Year’ further elevates Pakistan’s profile in the global tech arena.
