A peculiar trend, “Noreen Ro Rahi Hai” (Noreen is crying), has swept through Pakistani social media, with hundreds of thousands of posts, mainly from PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) supporters. The hashtag #نورینرورہی_ہے gained traction on various platforms, including X.
The trend originated after journalist and political analyst Hasan Ayub discussed PTI’s intra-party election on an ARY News show called “The Reporters.” During the discussion, Ayub mentioned Noreen Farooq Khan, a former secretary of PTI in Punjab, who reportedly left PTI in March 2023 and joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PMLQ).
Hasan Ayub, considered a pro-PMLN journalist, claimed that Noreen was upset because newer PTI members gained prominence, while older workers like her were sidelined. Ayub stated that Noreen Farooq Khan wanted fair elections within the party.
Noreen Farooq Khan, in response, released a video statement, acknowledging Ayub’s presentation of her viewpoint and expressing her reluctance to condemn him.
The trend sparked curiosity among social media users, leading to thousands of posts asking about the context of “Noreen Ro Rahi Hai” and seeking information about Noreen and the reason behind her alleged distress.
Noreen Farooq Khan, who is part of the PTI renegades challenging the recent intra-party elections, maintains that she never left the party.
She filed an application with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to participate in the intra-party election, citing her years of association with the party and the positions she has held.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi Rearrested Outside Adiala Jail
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has been rearrested outside Adiala Jail.
Details reveal that Punjab police rearrested Shah Mahmood Qureshi after he was released on bail from Adiala Jail in a cipher case.
His release followed a plea by the police to end the 15-day detention orders for the former foreign minister under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
Shah Mahmood Qureshi had been initially arrested by RA Bazaar police in connection with a General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.
Yesterday, Qureshi was detained in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for 15 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The cipher case revolves around a piece of paper that Imran Khan waved at a public rally on March 27, 2022, ahead of a vote of confidence. Imran Khan claimed the cipher was ‘evidence’ of an “international conspiracy” to topple his government, pointing fingers at the US.
