The Cross-border couple has gone into hiding after receiving threats

NEW DELHI: According to recent reports, Seema Haider, a Pakistani Muslim woman, and her Hindu admirer Sachin Meena in India, who reportedly got married after Seema converted to Hinduism, have gone into hiding due to alleged threats from religious extremists. Seema, who met Sachin while playing the online game PUBG, entered India illegally via Nepal.

Initially, Uttar Pradesh police arrested Seema for illegally entering India without a visa through Nepal. However, authorities later released her on bail. Seema converted to Hinduism and married Sachin, residing at his home in Greater Noida. She received numerous threats following her decision.

However, recent reports indicate that the couple has gone missing. The Uttar Pradesh anti-terror squad has started an investigation to determine Seema’s Pakistani connections. They are also tracking the route she used to enter India.

Threats

Last week, a senior Uttar Pradesh police officer expressed concerns about potential attacks on Seema. It came after she openly spoke about her conversion from Islam to Hinduism to be with Sachin. The officer warned that individuals posing as members of the crowd or media personnel might carry out a fatal attack on Seema.

Although there has been no formal request for security measures from the couple, the police are maintaining constant surveillance of their house. Uniformed and plainclothes police officers are discreetly present around their residence in Rabupura.

Sources mentioned that the central government may not repatriate Seema to Pakistan at this time. The Ministry of External Affairs and the central government will make the final decision regarding her future. If Sachin appeals to the government for his wife to stay in India, she may get a long-term visa based on her status.

The situation is based on the available reports, and the details may evolve or change over time.
