Security forces successfully repelled a terrorist assault on the Jhangi check post, located in the border area of Taunsa Sharif, earlier this week.
According to a police spokesperson, a group of 20 to 25 heavily armed terrorists launched the attack from multiple directions, using rocket launchers and advanced automatic weapons.
The spokesperson confirmed that the attackers employed sophisticated weaponry during the assault. However, the police personnel stationed at the check post responded swiftly and engaged in intense gunfire, ultimately forcing the attackers to retreat.
“The terrorists were compelled to pull back due to the timely and effective counterfire from our officers,” said the spokesperson. “The attackers sustained casualties during the exchange of fire, and we have initiated a search operation to track down those who fled.”
In addition, a quick response force was dispatched to support the operation and secure the area. While gunfire has subsided, intermittent exchanges continued throughout the day.
Authorities have ramped up efforts to locate and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack. The search operation remains ongoing.
