ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has escalated its response to the airstrikes carried out by Iran, resulting in the tragic death of two children. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has announced the expulsion of the Iranian Ambassador from Islamabad and the recall of Pakistan’s Ambassador from Tehran.
Additionally, as a further expression of protest, Pakistan has canceled all upcoming meetings and engagements with Iranian officials. This move signals a significant deterioration in bilateral relations, reflecting Pakistan’s determination to address the issue with utmost seriousness.
The decision was made in light of the continued strain in diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries following the unprovoked drone and missile strike in Balochistan’s Panjur district. The strike, which targeted the Sabz Koh area near the Iranian border, resulted in the loss of innocent lives, including two children, and left several others injured.
Pakistan consistently emphasizes that terrorism poses a shared threat to all nations in the region, necessitating coordinated efforts. Unilateral actions, such as the recent violation of Pakistan’s airspace by Iran, deviate from the principles of good neighborly relations and have the potential to significantly erode bilateral trust and confidence.
In a strongly worded statement, the MOFA emphasized the gravity of the situation and underscored the unacceptable nature of the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. The statement reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to condemning such actions and holding the responsible party accountable for the consequences.
