Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin to Lead Muharram Sermons in Karachi

Karachi has been selected as the venue for the annual Ashara Mubaraka congregations by Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community. This decision follows an official invitation extended earlier this month by both the Pakistani government and the Dawoodi Bohra community in Pakistan.

Ashara Mubaraka spans ten days of remembrance dedicated to honoring Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his grandson Imam Husain (RA), and their family and companions. This period holds significant spiritual importance for Dawoodi Bohras, emphasizing values such as justice, truth, and humanity through the teachings and sacrifices of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Husain (RA).

Shabbir Harianawala, a coordinator from the Karachi Dawoodi Bohra community, expects attendance to exceed 80,000 Dawoodi Bohras from Pakistan and across the globe. He emphasized ongoing collaboration with local authorities and organizations to ensure that guests are accommodated and cared for throughout their stay in Karachi. The efforts aim to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment conducive to spiritual reflection and community unity.

This occasion marks Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin’s return to lead the Ashara Mubaraka congregations in Karachi, having last presided over the event in 2017. The community eagerly anticipates coming together to observe this significant period, reinforcing their commitment to faith, solidarity, and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Husain (RA).

The upcoming congregations are set to commence in Karachi, continuing the tradition of spiritual observance and communal unity cherished by the Dawoodi Bohra community worldwide.

Amidst preparations for the Ashara Mubaraka congregations, the Dawoodi Bohra community in Karachi is also focused on fostering interfaith dialogue and community engagement. These efforts underscore their commitment to promoting harmony and understanding among diverse groups within Pakistan and beyond.

The congregations serve not only as a time of spiritual reflection and remembrance but also as a platform for promoting values of compassion, tolerance, and mutual respect—a testament to the community’s role in contributing positively to the social fabric of Karachi and the wider global community.
