ISLAMABAD: There is a positive development for students as the Swiss government has declared its collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to offer academic scholarships to Pakistani students.
The primary motivation behind this initiative is to establish educational opportunities for international students pursuing master’s or PhD degrees.
The goal is to promote the eductional opportunities for researchers also.
Interested individuals should submit their applications for this program to the Swiss embassy by the deadline of September 30th.
According to sources from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), for more detailed information, prospective applicants may also visit the official website.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), HEC sources have emphasized that they have designed the “Excellence Scholarship Programme” to offer scholarships for the academic year 2024-2025.
It will encompass a wide range of academic programs, including one-year post-master’s research. It will also include three-year post-master’s, PhD, and one-year Post-Doctoral Programmes (PDP).

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah criticized the decision to approach international courts, suggesting it tarnishes Pakistan’s reputation as a convict on the global stage. He questioned why the judicial system’s “favourite child” needed to seek international assistance.
In one statement, Rana Sanaullah argued that involving international courts would portray Pakistan as a convict in the international community, a move typically associated with the country’s enemies.
