Supreme Judicial Council takes up complaints against SC Judge Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council today started proceedings of a reference against the sitting Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial forwarded the reference against Justice Naqvi to the Supreme Judicial Council.
Naqvi is facing allegation of having assets beyond means and misconduct.

In April this year, a judicial reference was filed against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
The Council initiated proceedings after Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Ban forwarded the complaints to a member of the SJC.
Earlier, two judges of the Supreme Court _ Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood urged the Supreme Judicial Council to initiate action over complaints of alleged ‘misconduct and financial impropriety’ against Justice Naqvi.
Both Judges also wrote a letter to the SJC to convene a meeting to initiate probe complaints against Justice Sayyed Mazahar Naqvi.
According to the letter, Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) filed a complaint alleging misconduct and financial impropriety by Justice Naqvi. Advocate Mian Dawood filed the complaint against Justice Naqvi for violating the code of conduct for judges of the Supreme Court issued under Clause (8) of Article 209 of the Constitution.
The reference alleged that the judge used his “influence to facilitate” his sons and a daughter studying abroad and to get “financial gains” from Zahid Rafique, a businessman.
IHC suspends audio leak notices to Saqib Nisar, his son
Islamabad High Court stopped the proceedings of a committee of the National Assembly that was probing the audio leaks involving Najam Saqib, son of former chief justice Saqib Nisar.
IHC Judge Babar Sattar, however, mentioned no reasons for stopping the NA’s body to probe Najam Saqib in an audio leak involving the sale of PTI tickets to a couple of contestants in Punjab against ‘reward money’.
The IHC Judge Babar Sattar also suspended the notice issued to former chief justice Saqib Nisar in an audio leak case being probed by a committee of the Parliament.
