ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has issued a written order in the NAB law amendments case, granting an opportunity for the PTI Chairman to appear in court. The PTI Chairman has been the main petitioner in the case concerning amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO).

The court, in its written order, noted that it is issuing notices to all parties involved in the case. The order also specified that a copy of the court order should be delivered to the imprisoned Chairman PTI, who is currently held in Adiala Jail. If he intends to appear in court, the Jail Superintendent should make the necessary arrangements.
The written order mentioned that appeals against the Supreme Court verdict in the NAB law amendments case have been linked to the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court (Practice & Procedure) Act, 2023.
Notices have been issued to the Attorney General and all provincial advocate generals, and the notice to the Chairman PTI will be served via the jail superintendent.
The hearing of the case took place on October 31, with a five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, including Justices Amin-Ud-Din Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Athar Minallah, and Hasan Azhar Rizvi.
The Supreme Court had previously prohibited accountability courts from making final decisions in corruption cases, and on September 15, it ruled against amendments made to National Accountability Bureau laws in response to a plea by the PTI Chairman.
PTI’s Asad Qaiser sent to Adiala jail on judicial remand
Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate in Islamabad has issued an order to detain senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser in prison on Saturday, following his arrest a day prior.
Following this court order, Asad Qaiser was transferred to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail by the Islamabad Police.
Previously, a team from the Anti-Corruption Establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took the former National Assembly speaker into custody on charges of embezzlement.
Magistrate Qudratullah also instructed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s top anti-graft department to fulfill the necessary legal requirements within a week.
On Friday, Qaiser was moved to Bani Gala Police Station for further questioning in relation to his alleged involvement in a corruption scandal at Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi.
Last week, Qaiser and Ali Muhammad Khan had a meeting with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to offer condolences for the sad passing of his mother-in-law and to discuss the current political situation in the country.
