Quetta Blast: Three Killed, 21 Injured in Double Road Explosion

Quetta Blast

QUETTA: A powerful explosion struck Quetta’s Double Road, resulting in the deaths of at least three people and leaving 21 others injured. The blast caused widespread panic in the area, affecting security personnel, shopkeepers, and bystanders who were caught in the attack’s impact.

According to initial reports, the explosion specifically targeted a police van that was on routine patrol duty. The impact of the blast severely injured the officers inside the vehicle, highlighting the continued threat faced by law enforcement agencies in the region.

Police Surgeon Dr. Ayesha Faiz confirmed that three people lost their lives due to the attack, while many of the injured remain in critical condition. Dr. Abdul Hadi, the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Sandeman Hospital, also reported that at least four victims are in particularly serious condition and are receiving intensive medical care.

In response to the emergency, Dr. Arbab Kamran, the Managing Director of the Trauma Centre, assured that immediate medical aid is being provided to all those affected.

Given the scale of the incident, authorities declared an emergency at Sandeman Hospital, summoning all available doctors and medical staff to deal with the influx of patients.

Security forces swiftly cordoned off the blast site, initiating a thorough investigation into the incident. Law enforcement agencies are gathering evidence to determine the nature of the explosion and identify those responsible.

Authorities have also increased security measures in Quetta, given the recent surge in terrorist activities targeting security personnel and civilians.

Balochistan has witnessed a sharp rise in violent attacks in recent months, with militant groups frequently carrying out bombings and targeted assaults. Security officials have been on high alert, but the recurring nature of such incidents continues to pose a significant challenge.

The blast on Quetta’s Double Road is yet another reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism in the region. As investigations continue, the government and security agencies are expected to intensify their efforts to curb such attacks and enhance protective measures for both law enforcement and the general public.
