Deadly Assault
At least three police personnel were killed in a tragic attack on a police van in the New Sariab area of Quetta, located on Mastung Road.
The deadly assault occurred when a routine patrol by cops from the New Sariab Police Station was ambushed by a group of terrorists. CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, providing authorities with crucial details of the attack.
According to reports, five terrorists approached the police vehicle on two motorcycles. The attackers on the first motorcycle were the ones who initially opened fire on the police van, followed by three more assailants who arrived on the second motorcycle. They fired at the vehicle and even opened the door to shoot inside, targeting the officers in the van.
The victims of this brutal assault were identified as Sub-Inspector Abdul Wali, Constable Abdul Rehman, and Constable Mukhtiar, all of whom lost their lives in the attack. Additionally, the police vehicle’s driver, Kher Baksh, was injured during the attack and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Following the attack, the bodies of the slain cops were transferred to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem and identification. The loss of these brave personnel has been met with widespread outrage, with calls for swift justice for the perpetrators.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, condemned the attack and vowed that the blood of the martyrs would not go unpunished. He assured the people of Balochistan that the terrorists responsible for the killings would be brought to justice.
Bugti emphasized the need for a strong response to those attempting to disrupt peace and stability in the region, promising no leniency would be shown to those who threaten the safety of Balochistan’s citizens.
He further expressed that the sacrifices of law enforcement officers would not be in vain and that the provincial government would continue to take firm actions to safeguard peace and security in the area.
This attack marks another grim reminder of the security challenges faced by the region and the bravery of police personnel who risk their lives in the line of duty.
