ISLAMABAD: The Special Court in Islamabad extended judicial remand of PTI chairman Imran Khan and vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi till Oct 10, 2023.
The Special Court Judge Abu Alhasanat Zulqarnain conducted hearing of the cipher case in Attock Jail on Tuesday morning. After hearing arguments of the lawyers of both sides, judge extended physical remand of PTI top leaders.
The government has established the special court after the approval of the Official Secrets Act 2023.
The court has taken up the cipher case that is the first case of the Special Court.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court ordered the transfer of Imran Khan from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail on Monday. Nonetheless, the authorities did not implement the IHC order till this time.
The Ministry of Interior also gave no reason for delay in the enforcement of the IHC order, so far.
Moreover, a confusion prevailed on Monday about the shifting of Khan to Adiala Jail in the wake of the IHC’s order.
Confusion is prevailing til this time about the transfer of PTI chairman Imran Khan to Adiala Jail, from Attock Jail.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Panjutha first confirmed the shifting of Khan to Adiala Jail, but later said that Khan was still in the Attock Jail.
On Monday morning, Islamabad High Court ordered the shifting of Imran Khan to Adiala Jail.
Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha confirmed in his social media post that Imran Khan has been relocated from Attock to Adiala Jail. But it is puzzling, as he communicated with individuals in Attock Jail, and they are still asserting that Khan Sahib is with them.”
Meanwhile, Attock Jail authorities have denied transferring Khan to Adiala Jail. The Attock Jail administration issued a statement stating, “The PTI chairman has not yet been moved to Adiala Jail.”
In response to these conflicting reports, one of Imran Khan’s legal representatives deleted the post, where he had made the initial claims.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court chief justice directed the Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan to shift Imran Khan to Adiala Jail. The IHC chief justice pointed out that under-trial prisoners from Islamabad are typically held in Adiala Jail.
On Monday, the IHC took up for hearing the cipher case on the petition of former premier Imran Khan. The Ministry of Interior will be responsible for making arrangements to transfer Khan to Adiala Jail.

However, the Attock Jail authorities did not present Imran Khan in the court citing security reasons.
Earlier, Attock Jail officials refused to present PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Islamabad High Court today. Attock Jail officials informed the court that they could not produce Khan in the court because of security concerns.
Earlier, Civil Judge Qudratullah issued orders mandating the former prime minister’s presence in court on Monday about a case concerning his nikkah with Bushra Begum. Nonetheless, the superintendent of Attock Jail expressed apprehensions that potential security risks could arise during Khan’s journey to Islamabad.
