Islamabad: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad has served notices to 11 individuals accused of orchestrating false propaganda on social media aimed at creating unrest in Pakistan. This action reflects heightened measures to address the misuse of digital platforms.
According to sources, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned Sabghatullah Virk, Muhammad Arshad, Atta-ur-Rehman, Azhar Mashwani, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, Muhammad Ali Malik, Shahzaib Virk, Musa Virk, Iqram Kathana, Taqweem Siddique, and Muhammad Noman Afzal. These individuals have been directed to appear before the JIT today, December 24.
The JIT is conducting a comprehensive probe to uncover the motives behind their alleged activities and potential affiliations. Reliable sources disclosed that the team possesses substantial evidence to support the allegations.
Investigations are ongoing to identify further suspects, with legal actions being pursued under relevant laws.
This initiative follows a series of actions against individuals accused of engaging in anti-state propaganda. Earlier, seven individuals were booked for spreading false narratives through platforms such as WhatsApp and X (formerly Twitter).
Authorities emphasized that apprehending those undermining public stability remains a priority.
