Sindh govt paces up evacuation
KARACHI: Sindh government has paced up its efforts to evacuate people from the coastal areas as Cyclone Biparjoy is approaching with greater intensity.
According to the Met Office alert, the Cyclone Biparjoy has turned into an “extremely severe cyclonic storm”. It is likely to cross over the area between Pakistan’s Keti Bandar and Indian Gujarat on June 15.
The Cyclone is near Latitude 19.5N, longitude 67.6E, at a distance of 600km south of Karachi and 580km south of Thatta.
Cyclone Biparjoy _ a severe storm
The Met Office has classified the Cyclone as a severe storm, showing no signs of weakening. According to the advisory, winds in the center of the storm are blowing at a speed of 180 to 200 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, the sea surface temperature ranges from 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and the waves have reached heights of 30 to 40 feet in the center of the storm.
The areas which are at high risk are Thatta, Sajawal and Badin.
