Sindh Government Reshuffles Bureaucracy Following Complaints from Business Community

Sindh Government

In a sweeping bureaucratic shake-up, the Sindh government has dismissed several deputy commissioners, senior officials, and influential police station house officers (SHOs) in response to complaints from the business community regarding bureaucratic corruption and inefficiency.

This move, which was formalized through a series of official notifications, highlights the government’s commitment to addressing grievances raised by the business sector about the functioning of the administration.

Among the key officials dismissed in the move were Deputy Commissioners (DC) of key districts: Tahir Cheema from Kemari, Shahzad Abbasi from East, and Irfan Salam from Malir. These positions are crucial in managing the local governance structure, and their removal signals the government’s intention to hold officials accountable for their performance.

Additionally, Chief Engineer of Highways Ayub Junejo, a Grade 20 officer, was also dismissed. Alongside these administrative changes, the Sindh government removed several high-ranking police officers, including the influential SHOs from Manghopir, Mauchko, Boat Basin, and Clifton, which are key areas often cited for corruption and administrative challenges.

Further actions included the dismissal of Imtiaz Shah, the Managing Director of Sindh Solid Waste Management, as well as the Deputy Commissioners of Jacobabad and Tando Allahyar.

This indicates that the government is addressing inefficiencies not only at the district level but also in essential public service sectors. The government also appointed new officials to fill the vacant posts, aiming to bring about positive changes.

Raja Tariq Hussain was appointed as the new DC of Kemari, while Ibrar Ahmed Jaffer and Salim Ullah Odho were named DCs of East and Malir, respectively. Noor Mustafa Laghari was appointed as DC of Tando Allahyar.

In addition to these appointments, the government transferred Khalid Haider Shah, the Secretary of Municipalities, to the role of Managing Director of Sindh Solid Waste Management.

Moreover, Secretary Land Utilization Zamir Abbasi and Director Anti-Encroachment Force Tariq Chandio were dismissed, signaling a focused effort to address longstanding inefficiencies in municipal and land management.

This action demonstrates the Sindh government’s response to the business community’s concerns, aiming to revamp the bureaucracy and improve governance by removing underperforming officials and filling positions with individuals who can address the current challenges effectively.
