ISLAMABAD: Shahid Afridi, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has finally disclosed the reasons behind his daughter’s wedding to fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
In February of this year, the 23-year-old seamer entered into wedlock with the second daughter of former all-rounder Shahid Afridi in a modest Nikah ceremony. Subsequently, their wedding ceremony and Valima reception took place in September 2023 in Karachi and Islamabad, respectively.
In a recent interview, Afridi revealed that the two families had been discussing this matter for an extended period. He emphasized the importance of humanity, stating, “Shaheen’s family had been in touch with my family regarding this matter for quite some time. The most crucial aspect is that one should be a good human being.”

Afridi further praised Shaheen as a great individual, even though they hadn’t known each other personally. Their families had some previous acquaintances, but they had lost contact over the years.
Afridi highlighted the positive feedback from those who had played domestic cricket with Shaheen, emphasizing his maturity and good character.
He stressed that these qualities were paramount in his decision-making process.
During the same conversation, Afridi was asked about offers he may have received to enter the world of acting, to which he replied that he had never seriously considered it.
He mentioned receiving offers two to three times, including from India, but he believed in doing only what he was genuinely capable of.
Cricket was his primary identity, and neither he nor his family had a background in the film industry, so he had never seriously entertained the idea of pursuing acting.
He did mention that he had been involved in TV commercials, but that was the extent of his foray into the world of entertainment.
