Shaheen Shah Afridi and Wife Ansha Welcome First Child, Baby Boy Named Ali Yar

Pakistan’s renowned fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and his wife, Ansha Afridi, have celebrated the arrival of their first child. They named their baby boy Ali Yar, and the happy news was shared by the Afridi family on social media, drawing congratulations from fans and well-wishers worldwide.

This new chapter is particularly momentous for the cricketing family, as it marks Shahid Khan Afridi’s first experience as a grandfather. Shahid, the former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team and Shaheen’s father-in-law, is overjoyed by the birth of his grandson.

Earlier in July, there were speculations that Shaheen might miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh due to the imminent arrival of their baby. Pakistan’s red ball coach, Jason Gillispie, had mentioned, “Shaheen might miss the Bangladesh Tests for the childbirth. We can give him some time off if he chooses to stay with his wife during this period.”

Currently, Pakistan is engaged in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, with the first Test having commenced on August 21.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ansha Shahid, the second-eldest daughter of former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi, got engaged in 2021. Their nikah was conducted in a private ceremony on February 3 of the previous year. The week-long wedding celebrations, including the rukhsati, took place in September 2023, with a reception at the DHA Golf and Country Club, attended by many of Shaheen’s national cricket teammates.
