Three terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The early morning operation also left two terrorists injured. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site, with the terrorists identified as being involved in multiple attacks on security forces and targeted killings of civilians.
The military’s media wing stated that a sanitization operation is ongoing to clear the area of remaining threats, underscoring the security forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism.
This operation followed a deadly attack earlier in the district where terrorists martyred 12 security personnel in a suicide bombing, with six terrorists killed in response.
The Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) reported a sharp rise in violence, with 722 deaths and 615 injuries recorded in 328 incidents during the third quarter of 2024. KP and Balochistan accounted for 97% of the fatalities.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their bravery. In separate statements, they reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and thwart all attempts by adversaries to destabilize the nation. Prime Minister Shehbaz vowed to continue the fight until the country is free from terrorism.
