Security forces engaged in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail (DI) Khan district on Tuesday killed a terrorist in a firefight, as stated by the military’s media wing. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) revealed that the IBO was initiated in response to intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists in the area.
The ISPR disclosed, “During the conduct of the operation, an intense exchange of fire occurred between our troops and the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of terrorist Muhammad Sohail.” Sohail had been actively involved in various terrorist activities, including the targeted killing of innocent civilians. Additionally, weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the deceased.
The ISPR further stated that a sanitization operation was underway to eradicate any other terrorists in the vicinity, emphasizing the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate terrorism from the country.
This operation comes amidst a heightened wave of terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
In an earlier incident on February 17, security forces conducted two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, resulting in the killing of nine terrorists, including two high-profile individuals.
The ISPR reported that an IBO in Tank District led to the elimination of Rehmat Ullah alias Badar Mansur and Amjad alias Babri, while another operation in South Waziristan District resulted in the death of seven terrorists after an intense firefight.
