A new group of Palestinian students has arrived in Pakistan to continue their medical education, as reported. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health, welcomed them at Islamabad International Airport.
This initiative follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to offer support to Palestinian students affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Dr. Mukhtar emphasized the commitment of the Pakistani government to provide these students with top-notch facilities, including accommodation and meals, during their stay. He noted the challenges that students in Gaza face due to the recent devastation, making it increasingly difficult for them to pursue their studies.
On October 14, the first batch of 27 Palestinian medical students arrived in Lahore, marking a significant step in this educational initiative. They traveled from Istanbul via an international airline and were taken to a secure local hotel upon arrival.
Prior to their journey to Lahore, the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo and representatives from Al-Khidmat Foundation played a crucial role in facilitating their departure from Cairo International Airport.
In total, 192 Palestinian students from Gaza are expected to continue their medical and dental studies at various institutions across Pakistan. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has granted special permission for these students, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to supporting their education in these challenging times.
The arrival of these students reflects a broader humanitarian effort to assist those impacted by conflict, ensuring that they can pursue their academic aspirations despite the obstacles they face.
